appearance
Seita, like their twin, was born with albinism, and theirs is total. Their skin is pale white, with almost no pigment whatsoever, and appears translucent in the sun to reveal blue veins beneath. With ivory white lashes to match their hair, they appear almost ghostly -- save for the red symbols tattooed onto their cheeks. These marks are known as traditional Kumadori that serve as markings to ward off bad spirits and foul energy. Seita and Gishiki are identical, save for their eyes. The somnologist lacks blood in their face, with dark violet circles beneath tired eyes to prove it. Sometimes, Seita’s bags beneath their eyes are so intense that it appears like they have two black eyes or bruises.
In addition, their eyes have extreme sun sensitivity, so they often do not go outdoors when it is sunny or bright and cloudy. To pair with this pale complexion is hair as white as snow and smoother than marble. It’s cut perfectly with square bangs and a bob that rests delicately upon the shoulders, not a single strange out of place.Seita smiles a lot less than Gishiki and appears more distant due to the overall sleepy energy that surrounds them. They have an imbalance of melatonin in their brain which causes their movements to be slow and lethargic.Their robes are grey with patterns of white and grey, mirroring their twin Gishiki’s. The main kimono is paired with a white sash around the middle and pale flowers along the sleeves and hem with highlights of red. Their sandals are black with white accents and they wear white socks to go along with them. They wear crimson tassel earrings.
"between you and me"
★ Sleep: The center of their studies. Seita is fascinated by the way that humans slip into a period of unconsciousness and will often watch their twin sleep, and anyone else who participates in their studies with pleasure. They have thousands of charts detailing rem analysis, logs of brain waves recorded during sleep, along dozens of dream logs.
★ The brain: In their dorm, Seita has several human brains preserved in jars. In a simple group of grey matter are the thoughts, memories and dreams of every human that ever lived -- something Seita clings to for research. They’ve dabbled in neurology along with their somnology studies, and greatly enjoyed the subject.
★ Astronomy: Seita has charted the stars over thirty times, using a different method every time. They’re fascinated with the way the planets shift and move through orbit, often choosing to obsess over the perfectly circular patterns in which they move. Their favorite planet is Saturn, silent and mysterious, much like the younger Kimura twin themself. They also show great interest in astrology.
★ Flowers: They admire flowers, especially carnations and chrysanthemums with little petals. The way the blooms coil and curl is fascinating, almost mathematical in nature, and they will stare at entire bouquets just to count the spirals and petals that cradle the center in an almost trance-like state.
★ Hypnosis: Seita is a trained hypnotist, even going so far as driving people into an almost comatose sleep through pendulum tactics and auditory hypnosis. They have been known to cause instant sleep paralysis in individuals, and they have the ability to detect what a patient is dreaming about from their neural waves.
★ Gishiki: Seita has a strong fondness for their twin, Gishiki. The two are often inseparable, and impossible to tell apart if not for Gishiki’s heterochromia. Though they mirror each other in mannerisms, it is apparent that Seita is the more introverted of the two and will be found in the shadows, often completely still and silent.
"it's only getting worse"
✖ Bright Colors: Due to their nature as a sleep scientist, they dislike brightly colored objects and places because of their effect on the human brain. A dorm of monochrome, whites and greys that make the walls look sleepy and sterile -- there is not a single colored object in sight, besides the blood bags that Gishiki keeps nearby.
✖ Summer: The sun hurts their eyes and burns their skin. In addition, Seita views the night as sacred due to their strange obsession with sleep, so being out in broad daylight when the general populace is awake is strangely unnerving for them. They will avoid leaving their room or study at all during the summer months, and resort to hiding inside.
✖ Noise: They have such a strong dislike for loud noise that it causes them to recoil . Because of the twins’ vow of silence, both are not used to any noise or outside chatter other than their own, and being in noisy places will upset them to the point where they will immediately leave and go straight to their room, or attempt to lull the noisemaker to sleep.
